Many people are unable to see themselves positively. You may see yourself as being too fat, too broke, not pretty or handsome enough, not good enough at your job, or just plain old unworthy of all the wonderful opportunities life has to offer. This type of negative self image can be detrimental to your self esteem and will greatly hinder your ability to create what you want in your life.
Law of Attraction and Positive Self Image
Deliberately creating your life is more than just directing your thoughts and emotions to support your desires on a particular issue or topic. You must also have beliefs that are in vibrational alignment with what you want to achieve. For instance, if you are focused on attracting a love relationship but you believe yourself to be unattractive or unworthy of love, it will be very difficult for you to achieve your goal. Developing a healthy self image will improve your ability to attract what you want and your quality of life overall.
Techniques for Improving Your Self Image
- Look into the mirror and be thankful for what you see. In her bestselling book “You Can Heal Your Life,” author Louise Hay suggests that you look in the mirror several times each day and say, “I love and approve of myself exactly the way I am.” It is important to notice all of your wonderful attributes. Regardless of your appearance, there is something attractive and desirable in all people. Learning to love yourself and any perceived flaws is an important part of improving your self image. Remember, you can’t expect others to love you more than you do.
- Practice daily affirmations. Constantly affirming that you are already worthy of love, beautiful or handsome, intelligent, likeable, interesting and just plain old fabulous is a very good way to improve your self image. Say your affirmations aloud, preferably while looking at yourself in the mirror. Make sure that they are all in the present tense, as if they are already happening. Good examples are, “I am healthy,” “People like me,” and “I am attractive and the perfect partner is coming to me.”
- Make it a point to treat yourself. In many cases, people remember to celebrate with family and friends to commemorate their special life events, but they very rarely celebrate their own successes and fabulousness. Remember to treat yourself from time to time just for being you.
- Write down the positive aspects of yourself. Keep a journal where every day you record your positive aspects. It’s easy to miss all of your great traits, but if you write them down you’ll begin to see that you are truly more wonderful than you realize. Perhaps today you noted that you gave your seat to a senior citizen, you looked great in your new outfit, or you’re having a good hair day. Any positive aspect, no matter how big or small, is worth noting and celebrating.
Your Are Your Best Asset
Remember, you are the most important part of your life experience. Nothing is more important than seeing yourself as a vital, healthy, beautiful and abundant being who is worthy of all the good life has to offer.
